"I'm not here to save the world, but make a difference in the community in which I'm working"
- Raymond Hernandez
"Children are not succeeding because they are not given the tools they need not because they don't have the intelligence."
- Louise Derman- Sparks
"Students not only need to know how to use a skill but also when to use it. They need to learn to recognize for themselves the context in which the skill might be useful and the purposes it can most appropriately serve."
- Sylvia Chard
I like the quote by Sylvia Chard. It made me think of a little boy in my class who is bi-lingual. The other day he was at the table speaking to me in English, and then turned to the child next to him, who is a spanish speaker, and immediately spoke spanish - then continued to switch languages depending on who he was addressing. He, at four, knows what set of words to be used with which people - nobody has to tell him. Young children are quite amazing.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I found all of your quotes very inspirational but the one that really touches me is the quote by Louis Derman-Sparks. I have to say that quote is very true and I have personally experienced that with kids.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your quotes and all is welcome in my heart but the one that stands out is R.Hernandez quote. I wake up starting my day with a purpose to make a difference in somebody life. I do feel that I have made a change in so many people lives while at work and in my community.
